X (Twitter) connector

X is personal only. You link your own account, and an agent can read profiles and posts, publish posts as you, follow accounts, and search recent posts, each behind a grant you approve.

An X account is a person's, never a workspace's, so X is personal only: there is no workspace connection, and any member can link their own account in any workspace.

Linking

Link your own X account from the Integrations tab or from a link card an agent offers in chat (see How account linking flows work). That link screen is where X asks you to consent to reading, posting, and following on your account. X has no way to add a permission to an existing link later, so it is all asked for once, up front. Consenting there does not let any agent do those things. It only raises the ceiling. Each agent still needs a grant you approve, and you choose what that grant covers. The link stays private to you: only your own private agents can be granted it, with your approval, in a one to one chat.

Reading

With an approved grant, an agent can read your own profile, look up users, read posts, mentions, and timelines, and see which accounts you follow.

Posting

Publishing and deleting posts is a separate opt in: the grant you approve must explicitly allow posting. There is no extra X screen at that point, the wider X consent already happened when you linked the account. Approving the grant chooses which agent may use the permission you already granted X. An agent with a read only grant cannot post.

Following

Following and unfollowing accounts is its own opt in on the grant, separate from posting. A grant that allows posting does not allow following, and the other way round. Who you follow is public and reads as your endorsement, so this is off by default.

Searching

Searching recent posts is a third opt in. Without it, an agent can only see your own posts, your mentions, and the accounts you follow, so ask for it when you want an agent to look at the wider conversation. It is off by default because X charges for every search.

Replies an agent cannot send

X restricts what an app can reply to. An agent can only reply inside a conversation your account is already part of, which means the other person mentioned you or quoted one of your posts. A reply to a cold thread is refused by X, and nothing is posted. This is X's rule about your account's API access, so linking X again or widening the grant will not change it. If an agent tells you a reply was refused, the useful next step is to decide whether a standalone post is worth making, or to reply yourself in the X app.

Older links and the follow permission

If you linked X before following was available, your link predates the permission an agent needs to read or change who you follow. Approving a grant that allows following will ask you to link X again first, and reading your following list will fail with a message naming the missing permission. Linking again fixes both, and your existing grants survive it.
